Even more known to amateurs and non-designers than the 3D lenticular print is probably the animated flip. It’s commonly used in greeting cards and has been a favorite of movie posters for at least 20 years. To create a flip animation only 2 images are required (of a quality that is good for print). You can either use pictures you took with your camera or you can use your artwork. There are endless creative ways to use our technology with flip animation effect.
Here are some: Upload 2 of your favorite headshots and see them flip from one to the next in the space of a single photo, no need to choose one of them, and when 2 pictures say it better than one, capture TWO moments… examples: before and after, siblings, generational images, or express your sense of humor with flipping images to show: blowing a kiss, naughty/nice, objects appear and disappear.
Make sure to follow these tips when selecting two images for your flip:
TIP #1: Images are similar in their background or have similar color palette. Two totally different images will work less well.
TIP #2: Having similar shape/size in both images will improve the flip effect.
TIP #3: To make an object appear and disappear, choose a colored/darker background and never a white background. In the example below objects and text appear on blue/colored background.
TIP #4: When using text on your images, make sure it is either located exactly in the same place in each or it appears only on one and not on the other.
TIP #5: ALIGN the images:
Once you have chosen your two images, use our image editor to adjust them so that the images are well aligned. When editing an image it becomes partially transparent so that the second image which is below is seen. This allows to position and first image on top elatively to the second image below. For example if it’s a portrait of a person, make sure that the face and eyes are aligned:
